Varenicline Side Effects Continue to Be Serious Concern

The smoking-cessation medication varenicline (Chantix) is linked with a significantly greater risk of suicidal behavior than other smoking-cessation products, Curt Furberg, M.D., Ph.D., a professor of public health sciences at Wake Forest University, and colleagues reported online November 2 in the journal PloS One. Furberg and his colleagues have also published research coupling varenicline use with violence toward others.
