Candidates for 2013 APA Election Announced


On November 1 the APA Nominating Committee announced the candidates it has selected to compete for several Board of Trustees positions in APA's 2013 election. The candidates are:

President-elect: Paul Summergrad, M.D., and Robert Ursano, M.D.

Secretary: Maria Oquendo, M.D., and Ann Marie Sullivan, M.D.

Minority/Underrepresented (MUR) Trustee: Renato Alarcon, M.D., and Stephen McLeod-Bryant, M.D.

Area 3 Trustee: Brian Crowley, M.D., Bruce Hirshfield, M.D., and Joseph Napoli, M.D.

Area 6 Trustee: Marc Graff, M.D., and Donald Sharps, M.D.

Member-in-Training Trustee-elect: Lara Cox, M.D., M.S., Katherine Kenney, D.O., M.B.A., and Timothy Kreider, M.D., Ph.D.

Petition candidates have until Novermber 15 to submit their petitions. Voting will begin January 2 when all members for whom APA has a valid e-mail address on file will receive an electronic ballot. Other members will receive a paper ballot. Voting ends at 5 p.m. Eastern time on January 31. More information on the election process is posted in the "Election" section of APA's Web site (www.psychiatry.org) under the Board of Trustees tab. The slate is considered to be public, but not official, until the Board of Trustees approves it at its December meeting.
